It happened about a week ago: I woke up OBSESSSSSSSED with jumpsuits. Out of the blue. For the last 27-and-a-bit years I haven’t cared about jumpsuits (I am told I had a brief dalliance with them in that first year). I have gladly gone about my fashion life with tops, bottoms and dresses. Until now.
I’m not sure what sparked this sudden change, perhaps it was a season of jumpsuits seeping into my subconscious in the same way they tell you pictures of skinny girls in magazines make you feel like you have to be thin. Maybe it was my obsession with new app, Covet, and how freaking awesome my Covet character looks in jumpsuits (more on Covet in a in another post soon). Seriously, you can’t deny she’s rocking this:
Whatever the source, I had a jumpsuit-sized itch to scratch. After a little online pre-shopping-prep to determine the location of my future-jumpsuit, I set out to Myer after work. The Bardot black, front-wrap jumpsuit did not disappoint! Half hilarious, half totally liberating, I immediately felt like my new jumpsuited self was way better than pre-jumpsuit AS. And better yet, it instantly made me happy! Sooooo happy! THIS happy:
But where you gonna wear it, girl?
Everywhere! The jumpsuit seems like the perfect outfit to wear in an apocalypse, to a hens night or as a contestant on The Amazing Race… basically any situation where you may be faced with a variety of unknowns. I could see it being awesome for shopping, a day at the races, a night out with the girls or when travelling. It is practical, entirely comfortable, dress-up-or-down-able and made me feel more than a little bit fabulous. I feel like so much life has been wasted, un-jumpsuited!
And I don’t want you to feel that way, sublime seekers! So I’ve scoured the web to find a BUNCH of fun and fabulous, ready-for-anything jumpsuits. I believe that picking the right jumpsuit for you is a question of body shape. Think about the part of your body you want to accentuate, and work around that. Funny about your legs? Choose a wide leg style. Want to show off the girls? Pick a v-neck. There is every combo of loose and tight tops, middles and pants. It’s worth browsing around to figure out what’s best for you. In fact, start your browsing here!:

Accessorise it up!
No matter which Jumpsuit you choose, I am certain it wants to be accessorised. Think contrasting (to your jumpsuit) rather than complementary. Think belts and necklaces that are carefully chosen to draw the eye to the right spot. And shoes! Shoes will convert your jumpsuit from breakfast-appropriate to cocktail-appropriate.
I’m putting it out there lovely readers; if you haven’t already, it’s the trend to try in 2014. I am certain there is fun to be had in the land of jumpsuits! Jump on it!

And then you find out you have to get completely undressed to wee. Watch out for all that extra fabric you’re holding while you sit, don’t want it to get wet, or rumpled. Totally impractical, I will never own another jumpsuit. Whoever invented them didn’t wear them.
