Score yourself a Leina Broughton Stella Dress!

March 21 2017

Today we’re talking about dress versatility, styling and accessorising for every occasion AND giving away my favourite versatile frock of all time: the Leina Broughton Stella dress!

Lots of dresses are certainly lovely… but not necessary

Last October, I participated in Frocktober and took on the challenge of wearing a different dress every day for the month of October to raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Together, we raised over $1,700! Throughout the month, in addition to wonderful generosity, I did encounter a number of people shocked that I had 31 dresses in my wardrobe. Not necessarily shocked in a good way! Now I’m relatively unapologetic about my love of shopping, fashion and frocks, but I absolutely do not think that women need to have dozens of different outfit options or spend thousands of dollars to look great. I wholeheartedly believe in investing in timeless versatile pieces that with a bit of accessorising/hair/makeup can take you from the beach, to the boardroom, to the bar and beyond.

That’s a tall order! Does such a dress exist?

Yes! I’ve had a couple over the years which have stood the test of time, but my all-time favourite in versatile frocks in the Stella Dress by Leina Broughton.

Long-time followers know, I am in a deep love affair with Leina Broughton frocks: they are stylish, flattering, comfortable, most are machine wash, no iron, all are Australian made and Femeconomy approved… a Sublime Find by every measure. Plus, team LB is all about valuing women of all shapes and sizes which I LOVE.

The Stella dress is extra special.

Leina Broughton Stella Dress

Gorgeous Morgan wears the navy Stella dress both ways; v-neck and boat neckline.

A core style in Leina Broughton’s collection, Stella is made in a range of block colours and also released in limited edition prints. It’s available in sizes 8 – 20 (I wear 14) and retails for $269. It’s reversible, with a boat neckline worn one way and a v-neck when reversed. It’s lined so you get a super smooth finish, the lining is the same fabric as the dress (stretchy) and includes a tube skirt so the fabric of the full skirt doesn’t fall between your legs when walking. Best of all, it was absolutely made for twirling: a pastime for which no lady is ever too old!

Styling Stella: one dress, 10 ways over 10 days

I have four Stella’s… because Stella has been a failsafe option for me at work and play whether the event is casual, formal or anything in between. To demonstrate how one truly versatile dress can take you to a variety of occasions, I’ll be sharing the Stella dress styled in 10 different looks over the next 10 days on Instagram and Facebook. I’ll be featuring Stella in different colours, though most of my styling would work in any shade of Stella!

Here’s a sneak peek of some Stella style:

On the go: need to arrive in style? Stella is great for travel as it doesn’t crush, perfect on the plane, in the car or packed in the suitcase. I’ve paired Stella in Navy with a taupe belt, trench from Ted Baker (last season, similar here) and Samonsite B-Lite carry on suitcase.

Leina Broughton Stella Dress in Pink

Working weekdays: I’m letting the dress do the talking in pink Stella keeping the accessories simple with a black patent belt (and pumps, though you can’t see them) with the boat neckline worn at the front.

Weekends: a frock to take you beach side to bar, I’m wearing Stella in black with slides from Zara, a Seafolly Goddess Tote in white (available in other colours here), Chanel Butterfly Sunglasses and ‘do not disturb’ sun hat from Valleygirl.
