Totally Frocked Up for Frocktober!

September 28 2016

Have you ever come across a charity challenge that you thought may have been made especially for you? I had this exact feeling when I came across Frocktober: important cause, exceptionally fun challenge and I’m very excited to share I’m taking part this year!

What’s Frocktober?

Frocktober is a fundraising campaign held each October by the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation Inc (OCRF), Australia’s pre-eminent body supporting ovarian cancer research… by encouraging us all to frock up!

What’s the challenge?

Frocktober HQ have a range of challenges you can take on to raise money, they are all about putting the ‘fun’ in fundraising!

Challenge 1 – Wear a frock every day for the month of October (I’m doing this one!)

This challenge is fully frocked – wearing a dress, each day, for the whole month of October! I am going to attempt to don a different dress every day (without buying half a dozen dresses, team Frocktober have been very clear that’s not the point! #ShopaholicTendancies) or at least wear a different dress look every day of October! That said, if you’ve got a fabulous fit-and-flare around size 14 you want to fling my way, I’d gladly flaunt it!

Challenge 2 – Frock up to fundraise every Friday in October

This challenge is about getting others involved in the frockfest on Fridays throughout October! Be it at work or Friday night celebrations, get social in yo’ frocks and have each person make a small donation each time you get together. Perhaps you can convert casual Fridays into frocked-up Fridays for a month, or maybe you and your best girliefriends commit to Friday night frocktails! There’s nothing like a good cause to make Friday all about the fun!

Challenge 3 – Host a fabulous one off Frocktober event

Go with a fun-filled, fancy dress or fabulous frock theme. Invite a bunch of friends, each of whom are required to make a donation on entry. Serve your favourite fondue with fruit, friands or french martinis! #AllOfTheFWords

Frocks are so much funnnnn!

Why this cause?

Ovarian cancer claims the life of one woman every 10 hours in Australia. There is no early detection test. There is no cure. This disease affects women of all ages. The OCRF believe that research is the only answer and their goal is to increase awareness of the need to raise vital research funds for the development of an early detection test that will ultimately save women’s lives.

How can we support the campaign?

Contribute a donation toward the vital research of the OCRF – all donations are tax deductible.

I would be *beyond thrilled* if you would consider making a donation via my fundraising page by clicking here!

Donations of all sizes will be received with much love and thanks! I’m hoping it might be possible to raise $1,000!

Better yet, join me! It’s not too late to get on board with one of the challenges and start your own fundraising profile!

Follow along the fun!

I’ll be sharing a pic of my daily frock every day – I’d love your company if you want to follow along on Instagram or Facebook!

Are you getting involved with the Frocktober festivities? Do you love frocking up? Are you thinking of all of the f words? Hit me with your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!

Great idea, Andrea! I hadn’t heard of this before, but am extremely excited to support the cause (thanks for the link to your fundraising page!) and even pull out the dresses I haven’t worn for a while (hopefully they still fit?!). I CAN NOT WAIT to see your frocks for some serious frock envy 🙂 xx
