Sublime Find of the denim kind: Jeanswest Curve Embracers

August 2 2015

I have found the jeans that have forever changed jeans for me! A decade and a half of angsty jeans shopping and I have finally reached my denim nirvana.

What are these jeans!?

They are the Jeanswest Curve Embracers and they 100% a sublime find for girls with curves! I bought my fifth pair on the weekend and realised they were undoubtedly a sublime find and I was long overdue in sharing them with y’all.

I am a pear shape.

Us pear-shaped gals carry our weight below the waist and often have a little more ‘junk in the trunk’.

Pear Shape

Famous Pear-shapes include: Kim Kardashian, Beyonce & J-Lo!

Curves can be a nightmare for denim shopping.

For me personally, low-rise (and often mid-rise) jeans are a non-starter. I have hips! Anything that cuts through or beneath them is guaranteed to be unflattering, particularly when sitting. #Muffintop. Like other pears and hourglass shaped gals, my waist is the slimmest part of my silhouette, so higher-rise cuts are more flattering. But because my waist is my littlest bit and my hips and thighs are my widest bit, finding one pair of jeans that fits in both areas is near impossible! And in the seasons before the last couple, finding higher-rise cuts was like a needle in a haystack. I’d taken mostly to buying jeans that fit through the thighs and had them altered to be smaller in the waist.

The Jeanswest Curve Embracers have changed alllll that.

Back in March I came across a post on Chasing Cait entitled ‘Lets talk about the best jeans ever‘. Caitlin introduced me and her other equally excited readers to Jeanswest’s Prima Denim range; Turkish denim that is engineered to stretch but retain it’s shape and lift you in all the right places. It’s light, it’s comfortable and it’s fabulous. The Prima Range was released in a range of cuts including curve embracers! And its just (like this week!) been re-released again!

The new Jeanswest Prima Range - include regular and curve embracer cuts!

The curve embracer cut was not new to Jeanswest but was new to me. It is especially designed with extra space through the hips/bum/thighs but a higher-waisted cut (though they call it a mid rise) that trims the waist so it doesn’t gape. It is perfection for curves. Life = changed.

Jeanswest release the curve embracers in a variety of lengths, washes and leg shapes each season in line with what’s in fashion. They are also available at a range of price points depending on the denim/fabric. These are the pairs I’ve bought:

Jeanswest Curve Embracer cut! From L to R: Prima Whitney on sale for $99.95; a sold-out Prima style from last season; ‘Kyla‘, $99.95; ‘Viv‘ in black, $89.95; Prima ‘Karrie’ jean from last season, this seasons ‘Vivien‘ is similar for $89.95

Sidebar: I nearly ditched this entire post after putting the above pic together. I am absolutely not in the best shape of my life, and looking at 5 pics of my legs in skinny jeans was/is depressing, upsetting, confronting! I don’t look the way I want to look! (I want to look like Blake Lively. #sigh) I umm’d and ahhh’d over whether I’d put this on the internet (obviously it’s my choice) and eventually landed on yes. Because the shape of my legs doesn’t define who I am. But it is relevant to how great these jeans are… curvy legs need jeans too! And I found ’em!

Other reasons to love the Curve Embracer shopping experience

  • The Jeanswest rewards system rocks, you get a $10 voucher when you join then between 5% and 15% off every purchase thereafter depending on what you spend in the year.
  • All Jeanswest denim also comes with a LIFETIME guarantee. You read that right. The guarantee covers manufacturing faults in regards to buttons, rivets, zippers, belt loops or seams. If you have a fault, they’ll replace your jeans with a new pair. Amazing.
  • Free delivery for online buys over $75
  • Since I’ve been on the database there have been 3 or 4 days where Jeanswest does 40% off everything! Makes a gal feel like buying 5 pairs of jeans… and for the price one pair of my ol’ jeans would cost to buy and have altered.

If you’re a pear or hourglass shape and have had woes finding a cut that works for you, give the Jeanswest Curve Embracer cut a whirl.

AS don’t worry about anything in that sidebar!! You look fabulous and are totally rocking those jeans like a sassy gal. Perfect pins!!
Can’t wait to buy some new jeans now…

Andrea, I’m so glad you added that picture in. We need more pictures of women in every shape and size. Your body type is typical of far more women compared to the catwalk women – who of course are real women too, but most of us are curvy.

I’m not in the best shape right now too, and am in the market for a new pair of jeans. Jeanswest will be my first stop now! Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks so much for your post and including the photo. I’m a short yet very curvy hourglass so these sound perfect. Do you take your normal size? Is the sizing consistent for the pairs you have bought?

Once again thanks so much for your post and pics!

    • So glad you found this helpful Michelle! I went down a size in the pairs that were stretchy and stayed in my normal size for the less stretchy pair (the distressed denim). Hope they’re as good for you as they have been for me! x

Hi, I just bought my 5th pair of curve embracers – I love the super skinny style too, but I still have an old faded pair of boot legs, one slim straight and now three super skinny. You look wonderful too. Get rid of the side bar note.. not necessary and you look fabulous anyway!!!

I just found this post while trying to find an image of what the latest curve embracer jeans look like on a curvy girl…I’ve bought them in the past, but always the bootcut and wasn’t sure how the skinny jeans would look…the models on the Jeanswest website are not what I would call ‘curvy’. So thank you for posting these images xx
