A visual feast today, sublime seekers! I am returned from my travels and keen to share some exciting discoveries – starting with the shop I was most looking forward to visiting in ALL OF THE WORLD – the kate spade Madison Avenue flagship store!
First off, what’s a flagship store?
A flagship stores is one set apart from others in the chain by the way it showcases the brand. It might be the largest, one that holds the largest range of merchandise, is the most well-known location, or one that carries the most high-priced merchandise catering to the most upscale customers. They are often larger and more beautiful than their sister stores – shopping the flagship is likely to be one of your best retail experiences with a brand.
The kate spade Madison Avenue flagship delivers!
Opening in mid 2013, the Madison Avenue store (at no. 789, between 66th and 67th) is a 7,500 foot townhouse, laid out as somewhere you’d not only like to shop, but to live as well.
Said creative director, Deborah Lloyd on opening, ‘It’s everything we’ve been working toward over the past six years.’ With an eye for detail, there’s something fun everywhere you look – my favourites are the witty words (‘if you obey all the rules you miss all the fun!’) and quintessential New York catch phrases (‘uptown is the new downtown’). Absolutely true to the kate spade brand, it has enormous doses of fabulous and is without question the most beautiful store I’ve shopped in.
Enough words! Look at the pretty!
The third floor is also home to the VIP suite, another room with extra doses of fabulousness where you might sip on that cocktail if you’ve decided to buy everrrrything.
Extra special and ultra divine – the kate spade Madison Avenue flagship store is a must-visit if you’re NYC-bound. I challenge you to find a more beautifully merchandised store anywhere ever. And also challenge you to try to leave empty handed! Until you can enjoy it in the flesh, you can always browse online – equally difficult to leave empty-carted!
Do you love it? Have you been? What stores have you visited that are beautifully presented like kate spade?
